The sun shone, and people came out to the annual Ukrainian Day in the Park sponsored by the Saskatoon Ukrainian Canadian Congress at Rotary Park on August 27, 2022. The event saw 15 groups perform with over 200 performers.
There was a cultural tent with activities. There was an exhibit on Ukraine from 1991 to today by Karen Pidskalny. There was an exhibit by the Ukrainian Museum of Canada, as well as cultural learning videos, played throughout the day.
The children’s corner had a variety of children’s activities, and the children enjoyed the activities and also the bouncy castle. The City of Saskatoon’s Me Ta We Tan program offered a variety of Indigenous children’s activities.
The Ukrainian National Federation provided a variety of Ukrainian food, and Sunflower and Rosemarie Bakery also provided desserts. Mean Green Ice Cream was also on site and provided some tasty cold treats. There were several artisans, and other vendors are site.
A big thank you to the volunteers and everyone who made this year’s event a success!
