The Unite for Ukraine fundraiser was a $250,000 success! About 400 people attended the luncheon. Among the attendees of this event co-organized by the Ukrainian-Canadian Congress – SB was Saskatoon’s mayor Charlie Clark, members of the City Council, and business and community leaders.
Mayor Clark has shared his opinion of the event on his Facebook page. He wrote that “yesterday the spirit of Saskatoon shone through at the Unite for Ukraine Luncheon.

An amazing group of Saskatonians from the Ukrainian and non-Ukrainian community came together to create a very special gathering so that we could support our Sister City Chernivtsi. These efforts raised $250,000.

As part of the event Chernivtsi Mayor Roman Klichuk shared a message to our community to help us understand what his city is facing, and why this support matters.”

Mr. Klichuk, in turn, shared his gratitude for the support and proclaimed, “Saskatoon and Chernivtsi – together!”

He writes, “I would like to express my sincere gratitude to our fellow Canadians who organized a charity lunch to help the sister city of Chernivtsi!.. Canadian friends raised $ 250,000! These funds will be used to purchase medical and rescue equipment, communications equipment, diesel generators, and fire-fighting equipment.
Special thanks to the organizers of the event – the mayor of Saskatoon Mayor Charlie Clark, Jay Protz, Christina Rybalka, Olesya Hursky for all the help and support!”
